Error Messages

This article explains some of the most common error messages that can appear in VisitorRego and how to resolve them.

VisitorRego is already running, please close the other instance

This error appears when you attempt to start VisitorRego while an instance of the software is already running.

Resolution
  1. Click OK on the error message. Continue using the already running instance of VisitorRego.
  2. If you are currently in Admin mode and want to switch back to Self Registration mode, there is no need to try and start VisitorRego again. Simply toggle back to Self Registration. Instructions here.
Alert
A common cause of this error occurs when VisitorRego is set to launch automatically when Windows starts. If the computer has just started and VisitorRego is still in the process of opening, users may think it hasn’t started and attempt to launch it manually by clicking the shortcut. This triggers the “already running” error. In this case, simply wait for the initial startup to complete or use the instance that is already open.

VRF server can't be opened

This error appears when VisitorRego cannot establish a connection to the VR Portal server via the internet.

Resolution
  1. Ensure the computer is connected to the internet. Once a stable connection is established, restart VisitorRego to allow it to connect to the VR Portal server.
  2. If your site intentionally does not use an internet connection, you can safely ignore this error.
Alert
A common cause of this error occurs when VisitorRego is set to launch automatically when Windows starts. After a computer starts, it can take several seconds for the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection to fully establish. If VisitorRego launches before the connection is ready, it will not detect the VR Portal server and may display this error. In this situation, simply wait a moment for the network to become active, and click OK to continue. Once the connection is established, VisitorRego will function normally.

Workstation Not Registered

This message appears when VisitorRego is launched on a workstation that has not been registered. It displays a unique Workstation ID.

Resolution
  1. Record the Workstation ID displayed.
  2. Provide the ID along with your company and site details to VisitorRego Support.
  3. After registration is completed, restart the software so it recognises the registration.

Resolution
  1. Contact VisitorRego Support to verify and update the subscription.
  2. Restart the software after the subscription is updated.
