Active Directory and LDAP can be leveraged to enable automated importation of a staff list into VisitorRego.
If the VisitorRego unit itself is connected to your network, the Active Directory details can be entered directly into VisitorRego settings.
If the VisitorRego unit
is not connected to your network, please see for here information on AD integration using a PowerShell script.
The Active Directory details consisting of the AD domain and LDAP filter can be entered through Admin Mode by going to Options > System Setup > Staff tab > AD Setup.
The AD Domain and LDAP filter details can be entered into their respective fields within the AD LDAP Setup window.
Enter the domain components into the AD Domain field, for example dc=lab,dc=com for lab.com. You can also include ou’s.
Enter the LDAP filter into the LDAP Filter field.
Note: Most Active Directories are set to give 1000 responses in a single query. If you are wanting to load more than 1000 staff you can do the following:
a) Narrow down your AD load by users, or by location.
b) Split the query into sections. A-F for example, or by each letter of the first names e.g. (&(objectCategory=user)(objectClass=user)(!(givenName=A*)(givenName=B*)(givenName=C*).
Once the AD Domain and LDAP filter details have been entered, a domain username and password need to be entered into their respective fields.
You can then use the ‘Load Staff’ button to load staff from the Active Directory.
Once you are able to load staff successfully you can set the load to happen automatically.
Close the AD LDAP Setup window to be taken back to the Staff tab or navigate to it from Admin Mode by going to Options > System Setup > Staff tab.
Check the option Load Staff From AD, then set the frequency for the load to run either daily, weekly or monthly.
Enter the time that you want the load to take place in the ‘Run On’ field. The time needs to be in 24-hour format.
