An Overview of Loading Staff from Active Directory

Active Directory and LDAP can be leveraged to enable automated importation of a staff list into VisitorRego.

Active Directory integration is intended for a system administrator or IT specialist to set up. Knowledge of how your Active Directory is structured to pull the correct information is required. Please contact your system administrator for assistance in setting up this feature.

There are several ways that Active Directory can be integrated with VisitorRego depending on the way that the network environment has been setup:

1. If the VisitorRego unit is authenticated against your domain or connected to your network, the Active Directory details can be entered directly into VisitorRego settings and staff can be loaded through the software itself.

 

2. If the VisitorRego unit is not connected to your network, a PowerShell script can be used on a machine or server that is domain connected. The script retrieves Active Directory user information for specified queries and sends the data to the VisitorRego remote API.

 

These processes can then be automated, eliminating the need for an administrator to manually update the list.
